Surveying Equipment - Surveying Lasers

Construction Lasers:

Surveyors and construction workers use laser beams to draw straight lines through the air.

The beam itself is not visible in the air except where scattered by dust or haze, but it projects a bright point on a distant object. Surveyors bounce the beam off a mirror to measure direction and angle.

New Green Lasers

The green laser beam dot can be seen at much greater distances than with a red laser pointer. Unlike a red laser, the green beam itself can be seen in mid-air in dark conditions, not just the laser beam dot. A green laser is significantly brighter (about 50 times) than a red laser pointer and because of its unusual color it is much more noticeable. A 532 nm green laser wavelength is obviously superior to a 650 nm red laser wavelength.
